A Shared Commitment to Health, Community, and Tradition: Announcing Our New Partnership with Coyotas Tortillas

Nov 08, 2024

At Salt + Soil, we believe that the food we eat connects us to our roots and strengthens our community. That's why we’re excited to announce our new partnership with Coyotas Tortillas, a company whose values align beautifully with ours.

Founded by Janet Flores Pavlovich, Coyotas began as a personal journey to reimagine the traditional tortilla. Janet grew up in Hermosillo, Sonora, the birthplace of the flour tortilla, but wanted to create something innovative and healthier. After years of experimentation, she developed her signature cassava tortillas – grain-free, gluten-free, and made with only four simple ingredients. Today, these tortillas are hand-crafted in small batches in their California facility.

What drew us to Coyotas is not just their dedication to health, but their deep connection to community and tradition. Janet’s journey of returning to her roots, rethinking the tortilla, and crafting a product that’s both nutritious and delicious mirrors our own approach at Salt + Soil. We, too, strive to provide wholesome, thoughtfully sourced meals that nurture the body and honor sustainable practices.

Last week, we had the pleasure of meeting with the Coyotas team, and we were blown away by the alignment in our visions. Like us, they believe in more than just great food; they believe in fostering community through shared experiences and authentic connections. For both Salt + Soil and Coyotas, food is not just sustenance – it’s a way to tell stories, build relationships, and honor our shared values.

We’re proud to bring Coyotas Tortillas into our meals, knowing that every bite comes from a place of passion, care, and a commitment to both tradition and innovation.

As we continue to build relationships with like-minded suppliers, we’re reminded of the importance of knowing where our food comes from and how it impacts the world around us. Just as Coyotas connects us to the rich history of Sonora, we hope that our meals continue to connect you to your roots, your health, and your community.

If you haven’t tasted their tortillas yet, we highly recommend giving them a try. You can order them online here, or they are available at most health food stores such as Whole Foods.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates – and thank you for being part of our journey!
