What is the Bredesen Protocol?

Dr. Dale Bredesen is a neurologist and professor who spent over 30 years researching the root causes of cognitive decline. His landmark work, including the bestselling book The End of Alzheimer's, introduced the ReCODE Protocol, a comprehensive, personalized approach that aims to reverse and prevent cognitive decline through nutrition, sleep, exercise, and targeted supplementation.

At the center of his nutritional framework is KetoFLEX, a plant-rich, mildly ketogenic, nutrient-dense whole-foods approach Bredesen designed to support brain metabolism, lower neuroinflammation, and support cognitive function.

Chronic inflammation is one of the mechanisms researchers study in cognitive decline, and an anti-inflammatory, Mediterranean-style way of eating is the pattern most often associated with slower decline in the populations studied. The largest randomized trial of the Mediterranean pattern, PREDIMED, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, followed roughly 7,400 adults and found fewer major cardiovascular events among those eating this way. Large cohort studies also link anti-inflammatory eating to lower dementia risk in older adults. After being diagnosed with cancer, co-founder Gio discovered how profoundly food choices affect health, energy, and resilience.  That experience, and Brooke's lifelong passion for turning whole ingredients into meals people crave, became Salt and Soil.

No. This is a nutritional support service designed to align with the KetoFLEX dietary framework developed by Dr. Dale Bredesen. We recommend working with a qualified health practitioner for the full ReCODE protocol. We're here to handle the food.

Do I need to live in San Diego? +

Yes. We prepare all meals fresh in our San Diego commercial kitchen and deliver locally throughout the San Diego area. We don't ship or freeze.

How much does it cost? +
